Cable is the home base for Great Divide Ambulance, providing Paramedic Level 911 response to the Townships of Namakagon, Drummond, Grandview, and Cable. This is a response area of 350 square miles which
encompasses area lakes, Chequamegon National Forest Lands, and remote recreational areas. Great Divide has a long history dating back to 1971 of providing emergency care with community response teams. The Service was originally founded and funded by the Cable Area Lions Club. The Lions still support the Service to this day.
In 2003, Great Divide became the first EMT Basic Service in the State of Wisconsin to earn a Paramedic Level Licensure utilizing hybrid response teams of area EMTs and visiting Paramedics. Today that service continues to be provided 24 hours a day-7 days a week. Great Divide Ambulance also provides Critical Care Level Interfacility Hospital transports for patients requiring transfer from area Hospitals to Regional Specialty Centers for advanced care.
Great Divide emergent response is initiated by dialing 911.
